Go Digit Life Insurance (Digit Life) has launched its first individual pure term life insurance plan named Digit Glow Term Life Insurance, designed for India's self-employed population. The plan includes optional coverages for accidental death, total and permanent disability, and terminal illnesses. Customers can choose from a range of policy terms and premium payment options to suit their individual needs. The entire customer journey from initial enrollment to the claims settlement is handled through a fully digital platform. This term plan looks to address barriers such as cumbersome documentation and lengthy procedures that typically prevent the self-employed from obtaining life insurance coverage. Digit Life's offering uses technology based underwriting models that rely on alternative credit assessments and distinct data points to accommodate the variable income and informal income proof often associated with self-employment. The plan also comes with teleconsultations, discounts on health-related tests, eldercare programmes and therapy sessions at no extra cost. Digit Life MD & CEO Sabyasachi Sarkar said "Self-employed individuals are vital to India's economy but often lack life insurance due to underwriting challenges. With Glow Term Life Insurance, we aim to bridge this gap by simplifying access and making it inclusive for India's self-employed workforce." In 2023, Go Digit Life, Backed by Canadian Fairfax group, secured a life insurance business licence from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India. It enables the company to offer life insurance products across India.
