Gift Nifty was slightly lower, Asian markets traded slightly higher

Local stock markets may see a muted to weaker start today. The Gift Nifty April 2026 futures are trading 0.08 points lower, suggesting a muted to negative start for the benchmark index today. The domestic equity market posted modest gains in last session, with BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 modestly higher.The BSE Sensex has risen slightly 1.25% over the last one month, while the NSE Nifty has inched higher 1.56% over the same period. In Asia today, sentiment was modestly positive. China’s SSE Composite Index posted modest losses of 0.22% while Japan’s Nikkei 225 moved higher 2.08%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index drifted lower 0.49%. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth Rs 1,974 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were net sellers to the tune of Rs 1,290 crore in the Indian equity market on 10 August 2026, provisional data showed. Overnight on Wall Street, stocks eased across the board. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended lower by 60.95 points, or 0.11%, and closed at 53996.98. The S&P 500 slipped 0.06% to end at 7774.15, and the NASDAQ Composite edged lower 0.32% to 26625.77. Yesterday, the S&P BSE Sensex added 43.27 points or 0.06% to 78542.44. The Nifty 50 index edged up 13.15 points or 0.05% to 24583.80. Titan Company Ltd was top gainer in Nifty 50 yesterday, posting modest gains of 3.02% to Rs 5090. The stock has moved higher around 1.43% in last one-week and is weaker 10.47% over last one-month. In sectoral indices, only Nifty Realty index ticked up yesterday, advancing 1.35% on the day.
