15-Sep-26 17:29Hrs IST

Japanese equities concluded Tuesday’s trading session with marginal declines, pressured by escalating crude oil values and increased bond yields impacting investor confidence. The Nikkei 225 index decreased 0.01% to settle at 63,484, as the encompassing Topix index declined 0.52% to 4,037, reversing prior advances.

Equities contended with headwinds as crude oil prices remained proximate to a four-month high, and bond yields in both the US and Japan advanced to multi-year peaks.

Market participants remain apprehensive in anticipation of pivotal central bank policy announcements this week, as both the US Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan are projected to implement interest rate increases.

Technology equities demonstrated a bifurcated performance amid concerns regarding a deceleration in the advancement of artificial intelligence. Prominent technology stocks registered marked declines, with Advantest decreasing by 3%, Fujikura retracting 1.9%, and Furukawa Electric declining 3.3%.

Kioxia Holdings advanced 2.3% amid speculation that the memory chipmaker is contemplating a new equity offering in the US, potentially generating proceeds of at least $10 billion.
