Market behaviours during the course of the trading session.

 
Local stocks see marginal losses

The key equity barometers traded with minor losses in early trade. Nifty opened at 24176 and hit a high of 24198 in first half hour of trade. Nifty Media and Nifty PSU Bank shares gained, while Nifty Metal and Nifty Auto shares retreated.


At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, posted modest losses of 116.42 points or 0.15% to 77,252.69. The Nifty 50 index edged lower by 87.40 points or 0.36% to 24,131.65.


The broader market surpassed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index inched down 0.17% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index moved lower by 0.36%.


The market breadth was fragile. On the BSE, 1929 shares advanced and 2604 shares declined. A total of 263 shares were unchanged.


Nifty Media index inched up 0.15% to 1606. The index has moved higher by 4.97% in last one month and posted modest losses of 1.41% over last one year. Nazara Technolo., gaining 0.76%, led the gainers followed by Tips Music, edging up 0.54% and Sun TV Network, up 0.19%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 6 are reporting gains today.


Nifty PSU Bank index posted modest gains of 0.03% to 8542. The index has risen slightly by 2.33% in last one month and posted strong gains of 22.34% over last one year. Bank of Maha, inching higher 2.24%, led the gainers followed by Bank of India, adding 1.10% and Union Bank (I), inching higher 0.93%, respectively. Out of 12 index constituents, 7 are reporting gains today.


Nifty Metal index moved lower by 0.97%. The index has gained 7.90% in last one month and surged 41.80% over last one year. Hindustan Copper, declining 6.56%, led the losers followed by Natl. Aluminium, easing 2.45% and Hindustan Zinc, down 2.42%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 13 are reporting loss today.


In NIFTY500, F A C T is the top gainer today, recording robust gains of 12.16% to Rs 879.80. The counter has posted steep losses of 22.80% in last one year. It recorded an average volume quantity of 9714.67 in last five sessions compared to 8847.91 over last one month.


Asian markets posted modest gains on Tuesday. China’s Shanghai composite is modestly higher by 0.27%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is marginally lower by 0.14%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is up 0.30%.
