Local stocks see minor gains

The key equity barometers traded with limited gains in early trade. Nifty opened at 24641 and hit a high of 24677 in first half hour of trade. Nifty Chemicals, BSE 250 SmallCap and Nifty Consumer Durables shares advanced, while Nifty Auto and Nifty Media shares fell. At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, added 201.22 points or 0.26% to 78,782.22. The Nifty 50 index edged higher by 27 points or 0.11% to 24,651.65. The broader market failed to keep pace with frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index inched up 0.07% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index posted modest gains of 0.48%. The market breadth was healthy. On the BSE, 2645 shares gained and 2084 shares declined. A total of 231 shares were unchanged. Nifty Chemicals index advanced 1.03% to 30709. The index has risen slightly by 0.58% in last one month and inched up 4.16% over last one year. Navin Fluo.Intl., jumping 10.80%, led the gainers followed by Aarti Industries, up 2.93% and Pidilite Inds., adding 2.38%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 14 are reporting gains today. BSE 250 SmallCap index posted modest gains of 0.48% to 7257. The index has posted modest gains of 1.06% in last one month and edged higher by 6.22% over last one year. Navin Fluo.Intl., rallying 10.80%, led the gainers followed by Neuland Labs., spiking 10.57% and Tata Technolog., rising 5.94%, respectively. Out of 250 index constituents, 140 are reporting gains today. Nifty Auto index inched down 0.85%. The index has advanced 7.52% in last one month and soared 23.18% over last one year. Sona BLW Precis., losing 2.44%, led the losers followed by Bosch, edging lower 1.89% and M & M, down 1.03%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 13 are reporting loss today. In NIFTY500, Navin Fluo.Intl. is the top gainer today, surging 10.80% to Rs 8422.05. The counter has jumped 47% in last one year. It recorded an average volume quantity of 4447 in last five sessions compared to 12467.78 over last one month. Asian markets recorded sharp declines on Thursday. China’s Shanghai composite is up 0.44%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is sharply lower by 1.81%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is lower by 0.93%.
