Market behaviours during the course of the trading session.

 
Local stocks see minor losses

The key equity barometers traded with modest losses in early trade. Nifty opened at 24575 and hit a high of 24577 in first half hour of trade. Nifty Consumer Durables, Nifty Metal and Nifty Pharma shares rose, while Nifty Private Bank and Nifty Bank shares declined. At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, inched down 355.60 points or 0.45% to 78,186.84. The Nifty 50 index edged lower by 104.85 points or 0.43% to 24,478.95. The broader market outpaced the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index moved lower by 0.04% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index inched up 0.31%. The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 2261 shares advanced and 2245 shares retreated. A total of 250 shares were unchanged. Nifty Consumer Durables index edged higher by 0.45% to 40424. The index has risen 5.32% in last one month and posted modest gains of 7.95% over last one year. Voltas, gaining 1.55%, led the gainers followed by Kajaria Ceramics, edging up 1.26% and Amber Enterp., adding 0.80%, respectively. Out of 13 index constituents, 6 are reporting gains today. Nifty Metal index inched up 0.24% to 13259. The index has inched higher by 4.24% in last one month and surged 43.85% over last one year. Natl. Aluminium, up 1.89%, led the gainers followed by Hindustan Copper, inching higher 1.76% and Hindalco Inds., adding 1.40%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today. Nifty Private Bank index inched down 0.78%. The index has eased by 1.96% in last one month and moved higher by 2.82% over last one year. Axis Bank, down 1.25%, led the losers followed by Federal Bank, easing 1.19% and Bandhan Bank, losing 0.95%, respectively. All 10 index constituents are reporting losses today. In NIFTY500, Gland Pharma is the top gainer today, rallying 8.20% to Rs 2881.85. The counter has surged 37.75% in last one year. It recorded an average volume quantity of 64522.17 in last five sessions compared to 55835.18 over last one month. Asian markets gained on Tuesday. China’s Shanghai composite is slightly lower by 0.14%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is lower by 0.73%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is significantly higher by 2.08%.
