NIFTY moves down, BSE 250 SmallCap stocks in focus

The key equity barometers traded with limited losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 24704-24579. BSE 250 SmallCap, Nifty Metal and BSE 150 MidCap shares advanced, while Nifty IT and Nifty Realty shares retreated. At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, moved higher by 31.31 points to 78,670.34. The Nifty 50 index down 192.35 points to 24,581.95. The broader market lagged behind the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index posted modest gains of 0.31% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index inched up 0.57%. The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 2620 shares gained and 1783 shares fell. A total of 255 shares were unchanged. BSE 250 SmallCap index posted modest gains of 0.57% to 7193. The index has edged up 0.45% in last one month and added 4.91% over last one year. Ather Energy, soaring 14.72%, led the gainers followed by Vedant Fashions, up 4.59% and JM Financial, gaining 3.93%, respectively. Out of 250 index constituents, 135 are reporting gains today. Nifty Metal index moved higher by 0.38% to 12964. The index has posted modest gains of 2.51% in last one month and recorded robust gains of 38.45% over last one year. Natl. Aluminium, adding 3.17%, led the gainers followed by Hindustan Zinc, edging up 1.59% and Hindalco Inds., inching higher 1.52%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 11 are reporting gains today. Nifty IT index slipped 1.17%. The index has registered sharp gains of 15.58% in last one month and moved lower by 9.91% over last one year. LTM, down 1.44%, led the loosers followed by Coforge, edging lower 1.13% and Infosys, easing 0.99%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 9 are reporting loss today. Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 11 are in red today. Nifty Metal index has recorded robust gains of 2.51% in last one month and has jumped 38.45% over last year. Nifty IT index has posted strong gains of 15.58% in last one month and has posted steep losses of 9.91% over last one year. From NIFTY50 index, Vodafone Idea, JP Power Ven. AND Suzlon Energy are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 1284.68 lakh shares, 619.82 lakh shares and 1221.37 lakh shares respectively. Asian markets edged lower on Tuesday. China’s Shanghai composite is marginally higher by 0.20%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is lower by 0.68%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is down 0.47%. NIFTY50 Aug-26 futures are in discount of 63.05 points today.
