Market behaviours during the course of the trading session.

 
NIFTY moves down, Nifty IT remains on investors' radar, gaining 1.14%

The key equity barometers traded with marginal losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 22611-22508. Nifty IT, Nifty Private Bank and Nifty Bank shares rose, while Nifty Auto and Nifty Media shares fell.


NIFTY eased by 0.42% in last session and registered heavy losses of 6.06% over last one-week.


At 12:15 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, posted modest losses of 372.43 points or 0.51% to 72,107.86. The Nifty 50 index lost 88.15 points or 0.39% to 22,532.30.


The broader market surpassed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index fell 0.83% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index retreated 1.21%.


The market breadth was soft. On the BSE, 1576 shares advanced and 3252 shares declined. A total of 261 shares were unchanged.


Nifty IT index gained 1.14% to 28020. The index has slumped 11.18% in last one month and recorded sharp losses of 17.68% over last one year. Mphasis, gaining 3.45%, led the gainers followed by Coforge, adding 2.55% and Infosys, inching higher 1.62%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 8 are reporting gains today.


Nifty Private Bank index added 0.89% to 26934. The index has drifted lower by 4.68% in last one month and inched up 0.88% over last one year. RBL Bank, up 2.31%, led the gainers followed by Kotak Mah. Bank, edging up 1.50% and HDFC Bank, gaining 1.20%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 8 are reporting gains today.


Nifty Auto index shed 2.69%. The index has lost 8.83% in last one month and posted modest losses of 0.94% over last one year. Bajaj Auto, moving down 5.42%, led the losers followed by Sona BLW Precis., slipping 3.96% and Uno Minda, edging lower 3.80%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 14 are reporting loss today.


Asian markets soared on Thursday. China’s Shanghai composite is up 0.31%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is slightly lower by 0.12%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is sharply higher by 3.30%.


In Europe, German DAX eased 0.29%, UK’s FTSE 100 edged lower 0.29% and French CAC slipped 0.89%.


In Commodities, MCX Gold ticked up 1.12% to trade at Rs 1,46,200 per 10 grams.
