Market behaviours during the course of the trading session.

 
NIFTY moves down, Nifty Media takes centre stage

The key equity barometers traded with limited losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 22702-22578. Nifty Media, Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Private Bank shares advanced, while Nifty Auto and Nifty Metal shares retreated.


At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, lost 215.52 points or 0.29% to 72,852.29. The Nifty 50 index edged lower by 134.30 points or 0.59% to 22,641.80.


The broader market outperformed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index posted modest losses of 0.26% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index inched up 0.19%.


The market breadth was unfavorable. On the BSE, 2186 shares rose and 2395 shares fell. A total of 269 shares were unchanged.


Nifty Media index moved higher by 0.29% to 1572. The index has inched higher by 3.09% in last one month and edged lower by 1.43% over last one year. PVR Inox, gaining 3.38%, led the gainers followed by MPS, adding 2.84% and D B Corp, inching higher 1.07%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 6 are reporting gains today.


Nifty PSU Bank index inched up 0.26% to 8030. The index has eased by 4.94% in last one month and added 5.16% over last one year. Union Bank (I), edging up 1.37%, led the gainers followed by Canara Bank, up 1.23% and Pun. & Sind Bank, gaining 0.76%, respectively. Out of 12 index constituents, 7 are reporting gains today.


Nifty Auto index shed 1.55%. The index has fallen 7.79% in last one month and lost 4.90% over last one year. Ashok Leyland, losing 2.70%, led the losers followed by Bajaj Auto, down 2.55% and Tube Investments, slipping 2.33%, respectively. All 15 index constituents are reporting losses today.


Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 11 are in red today. Nifty Media index has posted strong gains of 3.09% in last one month and is modestly lower by 1.43% over last year. Nifty Auto index has suffered sharp declines of 7.79% in last one month and is slightly lower by 4.90% over last one year.


From NIFTY50 index, Vodafone Idea, Ola Electric AND Cupid are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 973.1 lakh shares, 1357.56 lakh shares and 8606.27 lakh shares respectively.


Asian markets were marginally lower on Wednesday. China’s Shanghai composite is slightly higher by 0.31%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is lower by 0.54%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading lower by 0.62%.


NIFTY50 Oct-26 futures are in discount of 91 points today.
