NIFTY moves down, Nifty Realty takes centre stage, advancing 0.69%

The key equity barometers traded with slight losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 23282-23196. Nifty Realty, Nifty Media and Nifty IT shares advanced, while Nifty Financial Services and Nifty Private Bank shares retreated.


At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, retreated 639.31 points or 0.85% to 74,188.94. The Nifty 50 index declined 216.45 points or 0.92% to 23,230.35.


The broader market outperformed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index fell 1% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index lost 0.44%.


The market breadth was weak. On the BSE, 1676 shares rose and 2904 shares retreated. A total of 270 shares were unchanged.


Nifty Realty index posted modest gains of 0.69% to 877. The index has retreated 5.03% in last one month and inched down 4.64% over last one year. A B Real Estate, adding 3.48%, led the gainers followed by Phoenix Mills, edging up 1.91% and Oberoi Realty, inching higher 1.78%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 7 are reporting gains today.


Nifty Media index moved higher by 0.03% to 1567. The index has drifted lower by 2.27% in last one month and edged lower by 3.07% over last one year. Sun TV Network, up 3.12%, led the gainers followed by Zee Entertainmen, gaining 2.33% and Tips Music, gaining 0.58%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 4 are reporting gains today.


Nifty Financial Services index fell 1.83%. The index has edged lower 2.27% in last one month and moved lower by 3.74% over last one year. Max Financial, crashing 11.31%, led the losers followed by HDFC Life Insur., falling 5.72% and Bajaj Finance, slipping 4.14%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 17 are reporting loss today.


Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 10 are in red today. Nifty Realty index has registered heavy losses of 5.03% in last one month and is marginally lower by 4.64% over last year. Nifty Financial Services index has recorded steep losses of 2.27% in last one month and is down 3.74% over last one year.


From NIFTY50 index, Ola Electric, Godrej Consumer AND Vodafone Idea are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 4957.37 lakh shares, 89841.9 lakh shares and 886.56 lakh shares respectively.


Asian markets posted modest losses on Thursday. China’s Shanghai composite is trading lower by 0.91%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is lower by 0.66%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is firmly higher by 1.35%.


NIFTY50 Sep-26 futures are in discount of 29.65 points today.
