NIFTY moves up, Nifty IT takes centre stage

The key equity barometers traded with limited gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 24188-24107. Nifty IT, Nifty Realty and Nifty Media shares gained, while Nifty FMCG and Nifty Chemicals shares retreated.


At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, added 315.44 points or 0.41% to 77,249.03. The Nifty 50 index moved higher by 71.10 points or 0.30% to 24,161.95.


The broader market underperformed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index inched up 0.40% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index posted modest gains of 0.44%.


The market breadth was favorable. On the BSE, 2644 shares advanced and 1812 shares declined. A total of 285 shares were unchanged.


Nifty IT index jumped 3.03% to 31138. The index has posted modest gains of 2.65% in last one month and shed 14.84% over last one year. LTM, adding 4.19%, led the gainers followed by Coforge, gaining 3.49% and HCL Technologies, up 3.47%, respectively. All 10 constituents are advancing today.


Nifty Realty index added 0.54% to 914. The index has moved higher by 0.85% in last one month and moved higher by 3.07% over last one year. Lodha Developers, inching higher 1.64%, led the gainers followed by Phoenix Mills, edging up 0.95% and DLF, adding 0.63%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 8 are reporting gains today.


Nifty FMCG index lost 0.17%. The index has declined 5.11% in last one month and slumped 15.43% over last one year. United Breweries, losing 0.95%, led the losers followed by Godrej Consumer, easing 0.66% and Colgate-Palmoliv, slipping 0.60%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 12 are reporting loss today.


Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 10 are in green today. Nifty IT index has surged 2.65% in last one month and has slumped 14.84% over last year. Nifty FMCG index is sharply lower by 5.11% in last one month and has registered heavy losses of 15.43% over last one year.


From NIFTY50 index, Vodafone Idea, Capri Global AND Tata Steel are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 1231.32 lakh shares, 18270.58 lakh shares and 4175.86 lakh shares respectively.


Asian markets edged higher on Friday. China’s Shanghai composite is slightly higher by 0.08%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is up 0.33%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading higher by 0.54%.


NIFTY50 Sep-26 futures are in discount of 188.55 points today.
