Market behaviours during the course of the trading session.

 
NIFTY moves up, Nifty Media continues to draw attention, trading 1.57% higher

The key equity barometers traded with modest gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 23361-23287. Nifty Media, Nifty Realty and Nifty Metal shares gained, while Nifty IT shares fell.


At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, added 128.75 points or 0.17% to 74,443.34. The Nifty 50 index inched up 32.30 points or 0.14% to 23,302.90.


The broader market lagged behind the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index moved higher by 0.72% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index advanced 0.97%.


The market breadth was healthy. On the BSE, 3011 shares rose and 1517 shares retreated. A total of 255 shares were unchanged.


Nifty Media index rallied 1.57% to 1557. The index has edged lower 3.92% in last one month and moved lower by 6.09% over last one year. PVR Inox, inching higher 3.53%, led the gainers followed by Nazara Technolo., up 2.65% and Netwrk.18 Media, edging up 2.46%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 7 are reporting gains today.


Nifty Realty index rose 1.43% to 846. The index has shed 8.19% in last one month and lost 9.23% over last one year. Lodha Developers, adding 3.62%, led the gainers followed by DLF, gaining 1.39% and Phoenix Mills, gaining 1.37%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today.


Nifty IT index slipped 1.27%. The index has declined 5.36% in last one month and tanked 20.01% over last one year. TCS, edging lower 2.69%, led the losers followed by Tech Mahindra, easing 1.43% and Persistent Systems, down 1%, respectively. All 10 index constituents are reporting losses today.


Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 12 are in green today. Nifty Media index has recorded steep losses of 3.92% in last one month and has lost 6.09% over last year. Nifty IT index has tumbled 5.36% in last one month and has slumped 20.01% over last one year.


From NIFTY50 index, ITC, Vodafone Idea AND EIH are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 33903.09 lakh shares, 957.14 lakh shares and 8505.97 lakh shares respectively.


Asian markets jumped on Friday. China’s Shanghai composite is ahead by 1.09%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading higher by 0.72%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is firmly higher by 1.85%.


NIFTY50 Sep-26 futures are in discount of 37.10 points today.
