Market behaviours during the course of the trading session.

 
NIFTY moves up, Nifty PSU Bank remains on investors' radar, gaining 1.61%

The key equity barometers traded with minor gains in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 22622-22474. Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Consumer Durables and Nifty Realty shares rose, while Nifty Healthcare Index and Nifty Pharma shares fell.


At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, inched up 205.55 points or 0.29% to 72,115.25. The Nifty 50 index added 52.50 points or 0.23% to 22,474.45.


The broader market lagged behind the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index posted modest gains of 0.34% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index moved higher by 0.06%.


The market breadth was favorable. On the BSE, 2555 shares advanced and 2203 shares retreated. A total of 312 shares were unchanged.


Nifty PSU Bank index rallied 1.61% to 8066. The index has retreated 6.68% in last one month and posted modest gains of 5.85% over last one year. Bank of India, adding 4.33%, led the gainers followed by I O B, gaining 2.44% and Punjab Natl.Bank, edging up 2.23%, respectively. All 12 constituents are advancing today.


Nifty Consumer Durables index rose 1.53% to 36478. The index has lost 9.88% in last one month and posted modest losses of 3.87% over last one year. LG Electronics, advancing 5.27%, led the gainers followed by Kalyan Jewellers, up 4.89% and Crompton Gr. Con, inching higher 3.51%, respectively. Out of 14 index constituents, 10 are reporting gains today.


Nifty Healthcare Index index slipped 1.10%. The index has inched lower by 3.45% in last one month and gained 12.41% over last one year. Max Healthcare, down 2.44%, led the losers followed by Glenmark Pharma., slipping 1.81% and Cipla, losing 1.72%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 18 are reporting loss today.


Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 10 are in green today. Nifty PSU Bank index has registered heavy losses of 6.68% in last one month and is higher by 5.85% over last year. Nifty Healthcare Index index has suffered sharp declines of 3.45% in last one month and has rallied 12.41% over last one year.


From NIFTY50 index, Vodafone Idea, ITC AND Suzlon Energy are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 1275.98 lakh shares, 14331.09 lakh shares and 1008.99 lakh shares respectively.


Asian markets recorded robust advances on Monday. China’s Shanghai composite is marginally higher by 0.31%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is down 0.08%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is sharply higher by 2.12%.


NIFTY50 Oct-26 futures are in discount of 115.75 points today.
