India's passenger vehicle retail sector demonstrated considerable resilience, exhibiting a substantial year-over-year increase of 32.1 per cent to 4,27,213 units in September, according to data released by the Federation of Indian Automobile Dealers (FADA) on Tuesday. Overall automobile retail sales for the month reached 25,36,920 units, reflecting a noteworthy expansion of 31.82 per cent compared to September 2025. Two-wheeler demand for the preceding month advanced by 33.08 per cent, culminating in 17,90,188 units, a significant rise from 13,45,153 units recorded in September 2025. Three-wheeler sales also witnessed an uptick, registering at 1,32,570 units, representing a 22.25 per cent increase from 1,08,444 units during the corresponding period in the prior year. Concurrently, commercial vehicle sales experienced a robust year-on-year expansion of 37.62 per cent in September 2026, achieving a volume of 1,03,557 units, FADA noted in its advisory.
