Punjab National Bank forecasts asset growth to 20,333 billion by March 2026

Punjab National Bank announced upward revisions to its projections for total assets, total income, and profit after tax over the next two fiscal years, forecasting total assets of 15,986 billion for March 31, 2024, 18,575 billion for March 31, 2025, and 20,333 billion for March 31, 2026; total income is projected at 1,224 billion, 1,405 billion, and 1,495 billion respectively; and profit after tax is expected to be 124 billion, 185 billion, and 184 billion, with corresponding figures of 82 billion, 166 billion, and 169 billion under a baseline scenario; these projections, alongside anticipated improvements in Return on Assets (RoA) from 0.6% to 1.1% and then 0.9%, Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) from 16.0% to 17.0% and 17.7%, Gross Non-Performing Assets (GNPA) from 5.7% to 4.0% and 3.0%, and Net Non-Performing Assets (NNPA) from 0.7% to 0.4% and 0.3%, have prompted rating agencies to issue positive assignments and enhancements across various instruments, including bonds and certificates of deposit, without any withdrawals of existing ratings.
