India's social protection systems now support about 101 crore people, or 68.8 percent of the population, according to Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister for Labour and Employment. This figure was recognized by the International Labour Organization at the recent BRICS labour ministers' meeting. Mandaviya also shared that employment generated per GDP growth point has increased significantly, from 0.1 percent twelve years ago to 1.15 percent last year. This improvement is due to a new approach to industrial relations involving industry, government, trade unions, and workers.
