The key equity barometers traded with minor losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 24188-24077. Nifty IT, Nifty Healthcare Index and Nifty Pharma shares rose, while Nifty Chemicals and Nifty FMCG shares retreated.
NIFTY remained flat in last session and inched up 0.40% over last one-week.
At 12:15 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, up 97.57 points to 77,031.16. The Nifty 50 index lost 4.55 points or 0.02% to 24,086.30.
The broader market performed worse than frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index moved higher by 0.11% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index inched up 0.29%.
The market breadth was encouraging. On the BSE, 2440 shares advanced and 2313 shares fell. A total of 263 shares were unchanged.
Nifty IT index gained 2.97% to 31118. The index has edged up 2.65% in last one month and slipped 14.84% over last one year. Coforge, adding 4.03%, led the gainers followed by LTM, gaining 3.80% and TCS, edging up 3.64%, respectively. All 10 constituents are advancing today.
Nifty Healthcare Index index moved higher by 0.11% to 16727. The index has risen slightly by 1.43% in last one month and recorded robust gains of 16.22% over last one year. Divi's Lab., inching higher 1.77%, led the gainers followed by Fortis Health., up 1.57% and Piramal Pharma, edging up 1.19%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 8 are reporting gains today.
Nifty Chemicals index inched down 0.66%. The index has drifted lower by 0.08% in last one month and inched up 4.18% over last one year. Pidilite Inds., edging lower 1.84%, led the losers followed by Atul, easing 1.49% and Aarti Industries, losing 1.48%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 17 are reporting loss today.
Asian markets were marginally higher on Friday. China’s Shanghai composite is modestly lower by 0.01%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is modestly higher by 0.17%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is marginally higher by 0.41%.
In Europe, German DAX moved up 0.39%, UK’s FTSE 100 posted modest losses of 0.79% and French CAC shed 1.68%.
In Commodities, MCX Crude oil slipped 1.22% to trade at Rs 8,030 per barrel.
