Market behaviours during the course of the trading session.

 
Stock markets remain under pressure after ending lower in the previous session

The key equity barometers traded with limited losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 23593-23312. Nifty IT and Nifty FMCG shares gained, while Nifty Chemicals and Nifty Realty shares retreated.


NIFTY slipped by 0.31% in last session and tumbled 4.39% over last one-week.


At 12:15 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, lost 122.49 points or 0.16% to 74,659.27. The Nifty 50 index posted modest losses of 59.70 points or 0.26% to 23,338.40.


The broader market performed better than frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index declined 1.04% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index fell 1.21%.


The market breadth was unfavorable. On the BSE, 1604 shares rose and 3355 shares retreated. A total of 257 shares were unchanged.


Nifty IT index surged 3.61% to 29964. The index has declined 9.12% in last one month and slumped 19.67% over last one year. HCL Technologies, strengthening 5.81%, led the gainers followed by TCS, gaining 4.90% and Mphasis, inching higher 4.57%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today.


Nifty FMCG index moved higher by 0.67% to 45357. The index has lost 7.65% in last one month and tumbled 20.90% over last one year. Emami, edging up 4.42%, led the gainers followed by Dabur India, adding 3.05% and Colgate-Palmoliv, up 1.69%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 10 are reporting gains today.


Nifty Chemicals index slipped 2.51%. The index has inched lower by 2.33% in last one month and posted modest gains of 2.05% over last one year. Solar Industries, slumping 11.98%, led the losers followed by Navin Fluo.Intl., edging lower 3.17% and Sumitomo Chemi., down 3.14%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 18 are reporting loss today.


Asian markets slipped on Tuesday. China’s Shanghai composite is lower by 0.55%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading lower by 0.95%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is slightly lower by 0.01%.


In Europe, German DAX drifted lower 0.38%, UK’s FTSE 100 moved up 0.44% and French CAC edged lower 0.76%.


In Commodities, MCX Crude oil climbed 1.44% to trade at Rs 9,738 per barrel.
