Tech Stocks buoy ASX 200-index
22-Sep-26 16:10Hrs IST

The ASX 200 advanced 26 points, equating to a 0.3% increase, to settle at 8,758 on Tuesday, concluding a period of subdued trading activity. Equities showed resilience as U.S. futures demonstrated a modest advance, propelled by advances in semiconductor equities and bolstered by burgeoning optimism surrounding artificial intelligence. Expectations surrounding forthcoming discussions in the Middle East at the UN, alongside the scheduled U.S.-China summit, further underpinned risk sentiment.

Equity investors allocated capital to technology, consumer, manufacturing and services sectors. Nevertheless, advances were constrained following a caution from the Reserve Bank of Australia regarding a potential acceleration in inflation, as elevated energy expenses and resilient domestic demand fuel anticipations of a prospective interest rate adjustment next week.

Equities are keenly anticipating the release of Australia’s September PMI and August employment figures later this week. The technology sector spearheaded the advance, with Nextdc rising 3.6%, Technology One increasing 2.9% and Wisetech Global advancing 2.8%. Lynas Rare Earths, ASX Ltd. and Qantas Airways registered notable increases as well.
